Best Positions To Get Pregnant
One friend to lean on (literally) in this endeavor is gravity. Another consideration, to overcome infertility, is to get the sperm deposited as close to the cervix as possible. The final step is to remove any obvious obstacles in the path.
Looking at gravity assisted positions; the traditional “missionary position” of the man on top of the woman is a good one that allows for possibly the deepest penetration to place the sperm as close as possible to the cervix. When the man enters the woman from the rear, this is also a deep penetration position, and if the woman lowers her shoulders below her hips, she can take advantage of gravity.
It’s important to not let the semen drip out of the vagina. Sexual intercourse in a “spooning” position, when the man and woman lay on their sides with the man behind the woman, keeps the semen securely within the woman after male ejaculation.
During intercourse, or for a few minutes immediately afterward, it helps to elevate the hips with a pillow so that gravity can continue to assist in moving the sperm toward the cervix. Some believe that female orgasm during or immediately after male ejaculation aids the movement of sperm toward the cervix through the female’s contractions, and it doesn’t hurt to have some fun during all this serious baby-making business.
In addition to the best positions to get pregnant, there are some positions you shouldn’t try, like anything that requires you to stand, or that has the woman on top of the man. Locations to avoid include anything with water or heat, such as hot tubs, spas and pools.
Use caution with vaginal lubricants, some contain spermicidal or other chemicals that kill sperm. A gynecologist can recommend sperm-friendly lubricants. Unfortunately, oral should be curtailed during baby-making, as saliva can interfere with the sperm getting to the cervix.
